What is your name?
Caitlin Webb
What is your role at LB Networks?
QA Team Lead
What experience do you bring to your role?
As LB Networks grew, QA evolved from a shared responsibility within our software development process into a dedicated team, creating greater focus, ownership, and accountability for software quality. I’ve had the opportunity to help build out those dedicated QA processes and grow with the role as the team has expanded. I also took the lead on building out many of our Jira processes, which are now a big part of how we track and manage work throughout the development cycle. A lot of my experience has come from working closely with Development, Design, and Service Delivery to figure out what works, improve processes as we go, and make sure everyone has the information they need. I’ve really enjoyed being part of building those systems and seeing how they’ve grown along with the company.
What do you consider your expertise?
I’d say my expertise is in quality assurance, process improvement, and understanding how the different pieces of our development process fit together. I’ve spent a lot of time working in Jira, managing SVT and its place within the release cycle, and building a strong understanding of OcularIP from the user’s perspective. A lot of what I do comes down to finding gaps, asking the right questions, and helping make the process clearer and more consistent for everyone involved.
How did you get into this line of work?
I started out as a quality monitor at a Medicare health insurance company, which is where I realized I really liked work that focused on quality and improving processes, but health insurance itself was a bit of a bummer. After leaving that industry, my goal was to move into a more technical field. My role at LB Networks wasn’t completely defined when I started, and I loved that there was an opportunity to build out a formal QA team. It ended up being a natural fit for me, and my role has grown along with the QA team ever since.
Where are you from?
Wildwood, MO
Where did you go to school?
I went to Lafayette High School and later graduated from Webster University with a BA in Psych.
What do you like most about your work at LB Networks?
I like that LB Networks is a small company because it gives me the chance to work closely with teams I might not interact with as much at a larger company. Because of that, I’ve been able to develop a much better understanding of the development cycle as a whole, which has made me feel more well-rounded in my role in the industry. I also really like the casual, tight-knit environment, and most of all, the people I work with. I’ve made some genuinely lovely friends here, and that’s probably my favorite part.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love reading, lots of walks around the lake in my neighborhood, listening to music and playing Zelda.
What is your favorite quote?
“Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.” – Mark Twain
What is your favorite restaurant?
What is your go-to local food or favorite dish?
Gooey butter cake
Anything else you’d like to share?
It’s really easy to scare me when I’m sitting upstairs at my desk. I have almost no peripheral vision, apparently.
