What is your name?

Alyssa Boning

What is your role at LB Networks?

Project Coordinator

What experience do you bring to your role?

On an education level, I have a master’s degree in project management as well as the PMP. Experience-wise, I have been a stage manager for 7 years, which is basically a project manager but for theatre. I also volunteer at a couple of indie game studios as the Lead Producer and am a manager of an online language learning community.

What do you consider your expertise?

Refining processes and time management. I really enjoy making existing processes more efficient and working on a bunch of small projects at once.

How did you get into this line of work?

I started out indirectly with doing Stage Management in educational and professional settings and then happened to stumble upon a Project Management degree while looking for graduate school options. It sounded like Stage Management, but more general, so I was super interested in studying it.

Where are you from?

St. Louis, Missouri

Where did you go to school?

For my undergrad, I went to Saint Louis University here in St. Louis, and for graduate school, I went to Elmhurst University, which is near Chicago. I also did a third master’s degree abroad at a school in Medellin, Colombia!

What do you like most about your work at LB Networks?

Definitely the people, both internal and external. I also did not have any experience with telecom before this position, so I have really enjoyed learning about a field that is brand new to me.

What do you like to do in your free time?

More often than not, you will find me at my computer playing video games with friends. My other hobbies are learning languages (I know Spanish and am currently learning Portuguese), traveling, and doing theatre.

What is your favorite quote?

“If you are not doing what you love, you are wasting your time.” – Billy Joel

Not only is Billy Joel my favorite singer but this is also my general frame of mind as well. It’s super important to me to take the time to spend on my hobbies and interests that I am the most passionate about: both in my work and outside of it.

What is your favorite St. Louis restaurant?

A Vietnamese restaurant in Brentwood called Mai Lee. I recommend the Bun Cha Gio and the Vietnamese Coffee.

Toasted ravioli or gooey butter cake?

I have a huge sweet tooth (definitely hereditary from my dad, if that’s even possible) so gooey butter cake.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Here are some interesting facts about me:

  • I have 3 bachelor’s degrees and 3 master’s degrees. When I was in undergrad, I triple majored and graduated a year early.
  • I made it a goal for myself to do a degree in a foreign language, so my third master’s degree is from a school in Medellin, Colombia. I studied Creative and Cultural Industries, and the language of instruction was Spanish! I lived there for 6 months in the second half of 2023, and I’ll be going back there soon for my graduation ceremony in October.
  • I have played the violin for 15 years.
  • I am a bird foster through St. Louis Avian Rescue, and I am currently looking after a Cockatiel named Gizmo. He is 7 years old and can whistle the Addams Family theme song.
